Brandon M. Zlupko, CPA, a Senior Manager at SF&Company recently wrote a book review for WPSU’s community BookMark program. He read and recorded his thoughts on The Coffee Trader by David Liss, a historical fiction novel set in Amsterdam in 1659. Mr. Zlupko’s review was aired on the radio and is also available on WPSU’s website, www.wpsu.org.
BOOK CONTRIBUTOR: Lynn M. Craig, CPA, was recently acknowledged as a contributor to the fourth edition of Not-For-Profit Accounting, Tax & Reporting Requirements, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The book assists non-profits in “keeping up with current financial and disclosure requirements” by providing “the latest regulatory information.” The author, Edward McMillan, CPA, CAE, recognizes Ms. Craig as “an authority on not-for-profit auditing, taxation and reporting requirements.” She is a Senior Manager on the non-profit team at SF&Company.
CONFERENCES & SEMINARS: Five members of SF&Company’s non-profit team recently attended the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants National Not-for-Profit Industry Conference in Washington, DC. The conference provided new strategies to enable non-profits to survive in spite of less revenue and increased demands for service, as well as critical training and the latest updates on taxes, auditing, accounting, management, fundraising, and operational analysis. Firm attendees included Edward E. Wagoner, CPA, Lynn M. Craig, CPA, Nicole L. John, CPA, Jennifer K. Forsythe, CPA, and Julie M. Miller, CPA.
Catherine M. Grove recently attended the Association for Accounting Marketing (AAM) Summit, “Building Strong Foundations for Firm Success,” held in Washington, DC. The four-day national conference focused on public accounting topics such as client retention, relationship and opportunity management, strategies to win new business, as well as innovative trends including social media and online marketing. Ms. Grove serves as the Marketing and Business Development Director at SF&Company. On behalf of SFC Asset Management, Inc. and SF&Company, James D. Adelsperger, CPA, CFP®, attended “Speaking of Ethics,” a seminar sponsored by the Financial Planning Association of Central Pennsylvania. The keynote speaker, Patrick Kuhse, shared his journey from successful stockbroker to international fugitive, from prison inmate to respected ethics consultant. He discussed the need for personal and professional integrity and the importance of ethical business behavior.
